Day 9, Barossa day 4 - Mannum

Destination - Mannum

Woke to better weather today making it a great driving day.  Last night Dale publicly offered a ride to anyone game to try the Silver Eagle and this was quickly taken up by Heather G.  Unfortunately her car had failed to proceed en route to the rally.  So organised was Heather that she even organised for me to travel with Mike and Liz W in the TA14.  It is a very pretty saloon which has the most comfortable back seats.  And it didn't really rain today!!! ...not fair as I was hoping to glory in the warmth and comfort of a dry ride today.

Overall the weather was quite cold with a little rain.  The drive to and from Mannum was lovely with great roads and the cars enjoyed the hilly twisty roads both ways.  The Williams selected a lovely look out for an impromptu morning tea stop which we shared with Bob and Lesley N in their 12/50.  The recycled plastic outdoor setting however had suffered badly under the heat and had a sever banana bends in both seats and the table making it difficult to place our cups.  The The 12/50's and Eagles were spied whizzing down the motorway - clearly intent on making their destination at speed.  Most of the navigation was straight forward although finding the park in Mannum took a while.

Parking in Mannum was on the lawn beside the Murray River which seemed to have a lot of water in it for this time of year.  The down side was the massive number of Corella's (large white cockatoo) while annoyingly noisy it was their toilet habits that had several of the car rethink their parking positions to ensure they didn't get covered in bird poop.

We wandered a while down the main street of Mannam which had some quite interesting shops and then went to lunch at "the club."  Having "done Mannam we proceeded back to Tununda via another interesting route.Unfortunately under my navigation Mike and Liz missed a good portion of the assigned route however the countryside was lovely whichever way you travelled.

Cars line up to leave the motel - (No its not actually curved, camera did this!!)
