Collingrove Homestead and Hill Climb
Got up this morning and it was thundering down with rain.
The weather had definitely turned - cold wet and grey.
Although we had a number of most generous offers of transport, Maritta and I decided to wait and see if the weather improved before heading out - fortunately it did. So we set off about 45 minutes after everyone else, and low and behold, we arrived at the homestead about 10 minutes after most of the field. It appears there had been several navigational "faux pas". We discovered that Alan and Noeline with Mike and Ruth and Claire and Norman in tow, also took a wrong turn. They were blaming Norman who had foolishly elected to erected his hood at a critical intersection and blocked the directional sign. Alan then had to "hot swap" a magneto in his 12/50, but they eventually arrived at the Collingrove Homestead for scones and tea just as the rest of the field were leaving, so we stayed and kept them company.
The homestead is a lovely wood panelled home spacious home with wonderful original appointments. Morning tea was set up in various rooms and we had ours in the library - quite fitting really.

The weather was fining up nicely however the wind was picking up and it was quite chilly. After morning tea it was a short drive from the homestead to our next stop at the Collingrove hill climb
track. We were treated to a delightful lunch and then a drive up " the HILL". Norman enjoyed it
so much he did it 3 times, getting better every time. It is quite a technical Hill
but the Silver Eagles seemed to love it.
Then a short drive back through Angaston and Nooriootpa (or Norripoopa christened by some of the Brits) back to
Tununda. Another leisurely afternoon and dinner in the motel complete with some
classic short movies such as “The Plank” and "Dinner for One"
