Day 2, Apollo Bay to Portland

Apollo Bay to Portland

Early start for breakfast, then a nice drive further along Great Ocean Road to our first stop at the 12 Apostles.  There was only ever been 9 apostles however there are now 8.  The name was deemed a fitting reflecting the biblical reference to 12 Apostles.  Several of the touring party took a helicopter flight over the Apostles which was spectacular.  We created a bit of a spectacle in the car park.  Due to delays in organising the flight it became a rushed trip to get to Portland.

Getting late we had a very quick lunch (sandwiches in the carpark) on the run from Allansford Cheese Factory, a quick stop for fuel in Warnambool. The Todd’s Speed 20 special had a front brake lock on for some reason which delayed us a bit but we eventually made Portland by about 5pm.

Very nice dinner at the Hotel where Dales sister Robyn and family had arranged (after a few miss-directions) to meet us for dinner.

Tudor patiently awaits his bus ride
